Classic stories with a modern twist
Nietszche claimed that everything is destined to repeat itself in an endless cycle. Whether it's a classical Bible Story or a Greek tragedy, when put in a modern context, it is relevant again. That's what makes it a Classic story. Photography is a medium that can give us a slow, contemplative view on complex things, rather asking us questions than purely telling us something. We feature stories that are universal and modern at the same time.

Handmade darkroom prints
Some call it 'old school' but a traditional fiber based photographic print is aesthetically hard to beat (and has a proven archival stability). Besides that, I prefer to get my hands dirty in the darkroom to tedious computer work. This way, every print is handmade and in its own way unique.

Limited editions
We only sell limited editions. The smaller prints are in editions of 32 and are very affordable. The bigger the print, the more limited it is (7 or 3 copies). If you want unique pieces have a look at our Unique Editions. Often this involves alternative techniques that make it impossible to make identical copies. All editions have 1 or 2 Artist Prints to allow for exhibitions.

Custom-made frames
The frames, the boxes... everything is handmade in our workshop in Belgium. No shortcuts, I only work with the best materials available. (Hard) Wood directly from the mill to have a guaranteed sustainable source, special glues & oils and I finish both prints and frames with a protective wax and oil. You find all the details right here.

'Mid Shades Forlorn
€950.00
silver gelatin print 60 x 75 cm, edition 7+1 AP Between Espingo and Portillon, there's a barren landscape with rocks, some clouds and light as the only elements to shape it. Walking through it is special, like you attend a party that you're not invited to. You can visit but not stay. The title of the photograph, I found in the poem 'Laodam...

A Slow Step
€950.00
silver gelatin print 60,0 x 75,0 cm. edition 7 +1 AP End of October 2012 in the Spanish Pyrenees. I love the end of the fall season. Everywhere mountain huts, hotels, shops close up for the winter. I arrived at the Refugio on the very last day it was open. It had been snowing the whole day and the guardian was quite surprised to see me arrive c...

Cirque de Gavarnie
€950.00
silver gelatin print 60 x 75 cm, edition 7+1 AP The Cirque de Gavarnie is one of the Pyrenean sites that inspired 19th century visitors of the Pyrenees like Victor Hugo, who called it 'the Colosseum of nature'. Interestingly, he feels compelled to compare it to a human construction. Was he in lack of words, which would be surprising for a po...

Little We See
€1,850.00
silver gelatin print 88 x 106 cm. edition 3+1 AP "Little we see" is the beginning of the third line of the famous Wordsworth Sonnet: 'The world is too much with us', in which he complains that we give too much of our time and life to 'sordid' things instead of embracing the renewing and revigorating forces of nature. These romantic poems, whe...

Lonely as a Cloud
€1,850.00
silver gelatin print 88 x 106 cm, edition 3+1 AP A region of limestone karst landscapes in harsh weather conditions. When I was there in autumn, cranes were flocking together with low hanging clouds preventing the safe passage to Spain. In the midst of the white clouds, waiting for a break, they kept calling out to each other. I photographed th...

Make me Thy Lyre
€1,850.00
silver gelatin print 88 x 106 cm. edition 3+1 AP 'Make me thy Lyre' from the P.B. Shelley poem 'Ode to the West Wind'. The lyre is a reference to the Eolian lyre which plays rising and falling chords when affected by the wind. If he, the poet, is the lyre, then the West Wind will play/carry his poetry to new places and times. 'Drive my dead th...

Most Sweet it is
€1,850.00
silver gelatin print 88 x 106 cm. edition 3+1 AP 'Most sweet it is with unuplifted eyesTo pace the ground, if path be there or none,' That's Wordsworth again, of course. He talks about how sometimes it is more rewarding to look with an untrained eye than it is with a trained one. A plea if you want, to go into nature with a naïvety and a fresh...

silver gelatin print 18 x 18 cm. edition 32+2 AP In the way we look at mountains, often it's like there's only one or two characteristics that really matter: the height of its peak and the risk of climbing it. In summer there are stately processions of people going up to the top of the highest peaks. I photographed a collection of peaks that...
